Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, most estimates are free with no obligation if you live in the greater Doubtless Bay or Kaitaia areas. Estimates outside these areas are charged a travel fee that is refunded once the work is completed .
At this time we do not have the availability to take appointments outside of normal working hours. We will do Saturday morning if no other option is available.
Generally we charge by the job. However in some cases we may charge by the hour depending on the situation, for instance older houses that have had little maintenance can hide potential unforeseen problems.
In some cases we prefer that you purchase some of the items needed for a job. Items such as light fixtures, faucets, toilets, shelves, ceiling fans, tile, laminate flooring, and others that are to our customer’s liking or preference. Other items such as drywall, timber, hardware, building materials and other specific parts for repairs are better purchased by us, so that we get the correct ones. Although in some instances we can give our customers a “shopping list” to allow them to purchase all the materials and parts. We offer delivery services for items needed to complete projects (for a small fee).
We will invoice you at the completion of the job and payment can be made by Bank deposit or cash. On large jobs we may require a progress payment part way through the job.
Unfortunately payment for services rendered is due upon receipt of the final invoice. Any unpaid invoices after 30 days will receive a 15% late fee (and every 30 days after that)
We are fully insured with a public liability policy to protect your home in the unlikely event of an accident.
It is not absolutely necessary, but we prefer to have someone at the home that is at least 18 years old. You may arrange for us to gain access to your property and to lock it after we leave. If you are away or live elsewhere we can provide pictures of the finish job that would be emailed along with the invoice. We treat your home with the utmost respect and care.
You may schedule an appointment with us by either calling us or emailing us. We usually have availability within 1 to 4 weeks, depending on the season. Weather and material availability can hold us up so we ask you to understand if we have to push your appointment out. We schedule jobs to be done Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4 pm (if it is a small job, we would schedule no later than 3 pm – if it is a larger job, we would not schedule after 2 pm). We DO NOT schedule afterhours (between 5 pm and 7 am) or during the weekends.
We only require a deposit for costly materials or materials that a custom made to order (special orders for doors, windows, flooring, paint, and others).
